Graphic Design Trends to Rule in 2021

The past year has not been an easy one and the current year is proving to be no different. Various brands have not been able to experiment with designs as much as could have been done in the previous years.

With work from home being the most common trend at all workplaces, going back to the basics with the appropriate modern touches seems to be a popular option for many designers. However, there are other trends as well which have been used. Some of those are:

Matte Colour Palette

Matte colours seem to be the flavour of the season, be it in the world of cosmetics or designs. The audience seems to be in love with these muted shades. Bold and bright colours were a big hit since last many years but now the matte shades seem to be calming people and it is being accepted too.

Simpler Data Representations

Concrete data visualization is making the actual information much simpler to grasp. The graphs, charts need to show the actual data in a simpler and compact manner. Adding in too many colours or shapes or fonts somehow was leading to the loss of actual information.

Using Geometric Shapes

Geometric shapes always come across as more professional and compact. This ‘no nonsense’ attitude has been well taken by the customers and audience alike. This trend seems to continue for a long time to come.

Social Slide Decks

These are being created to specifically share on social media platforms. Instagram and LinkedIn make great use of such images. The experience on other platforms is not as smooth as in these two.

Videos Loaded with Texts

It seems as if the rest of the year would also be dominated by the work from home culture in most sectors. It makes shooting proper video content challenging. The colours, fonts, designs are of primary importance in these. Graphic designers play a huge role in making these videos a success.

This year, like the previous, is going to throw many more challenges. Designers need to own up to those and suit their work accordingly.
